LEVELS OF PARTICIPATION

To facilitate the choice of your level of participation from two defined difficulty levels, we have established a set of parameters that seek to facilitate the choice.

- Both levels of participation have the same start and end waypoint

- All participants will have access before the start of the trip to the tracks of both levels, which allows the participants in the morning briefing to inform the organisation of the level they intend to perform at this stage.

Level 1 - Base

'Basic' level of reduced difficulty. All those wishing to initiate on African crossings should be enrolled at this level so that they can simultaneously improve their basic off-road driving skills on mountain and desert tracks with very varied levels:

Asphalt: the percentage of asphalt will be obtained after track recognition *
Basic off-road - 80% of track layout
Intermediate off-road - 20% of track layout

Total length approximately 3.600km, to be confirmed after track recognition *

Driving per day 6-8 hours

* Track recognition is performed approximately one month prior to the event to minimize errors related to terrain changes.

Level 2 + 3 - Intermediate / Advanced

Level 2 + 3 is an intermediate level of medium difficulty combined with some stages extensions that require advanced skills (Sand dunes). The stages extensions will not be a different level in it self, but an optional extension of stage tracks. All those who already have some off-road driving experience and who want to improve their off-road driving skills through challenging mountain and desert trails of varied levels should be enrolled at this level:

Asphalt: The percentage of asphalt will be obtained after track recognition *
Basic off-road - 49% of track layout
Intermediate off-road - 50% of track layout

Advanced off-road - 1% of track layout
Total length approximately 3.400km, to be confirmed after track recognition *
Driving per day 6-8 hours

OFF-ROAD PREPARATION FOR THE CHALLENGE

Off-road training sessions, given by the Technical Leader of the challenge, may be organized prior to the departure of the Event. They can be individual or group sessions withthe terms, dates and times of the sessions being agreed directly with the Technical Leader. For more information or to book the sessions the contact should be made with the organization of the event.

Safety

The safety of the participants is one of the priorities of the organization of the event. In order to complete this adventure, enjoying the maximum and always keeping the safety of the participants as a priority, it is mandatory to use protective equipment that is extremely effective in case of fall or accident in the prevention of injuries and in reducing the severity of the injuries.

All participants should therefore equip themselves with the following equipment:
- Off road helmet - Mandatory (alternative permissible integral helmet. Modular, jet or open are not allowed)
- Protective armor for the trunk - Mandatory (alternative permitted motorcycle jacket with protections for shoulders, elbows and forearms and backs.) Jackets without protection or not suitable for use on motorcycles are not allowed)
- Enduro or Adventure boots - Required
- Gloves suitable for use on motorcycles - Required
- Off road pants and knee pads - Required (alternative motorcycle pants with knee protectors)
- Jersey adapted the use off road (recommended)
- Neck brace (recommended)

 

IMPORTANT : Participants also endorse a "Responsibility Statement" regarding participation, submitting to technical and documentary verifications. The checks shall take place on the day before departure at a place to be indicated at the moment of accreditation, and all motorcycle participants shall be required to attend:

- Valid driving license for the motorcycle;
- Proof of motorcycle liability insurance and motorcycle assistance valid for Portugal, Spain and Morocco (with an MA extension on the green card);
- Equipment protection of the participant indicated above as mandatory;
- Moto in good working order;
- Off road tires (minimum 80/20);
- GPS navigation system (compatible with the use of GPX files);
- Registration;
- Front headlight and taillight running;
- Left-hand side mirror;
- Repair kit of holes suitable for the type of tires used (tubeless or with a tube) being dispensed to those who wear mousse.
